Scholarships

A continuing source of pride is the Scholarship Program, that was begun in 1975. The Polish Heritage Association of Maryland, Inc. annually grants scholarships to qualified full-time students who are legal residents of Maryland pursuing a baccalaureate degree.

Over the years, the Association has received scholarship bequests from individuals and organizations. Scholarship Program Academic Year 2010/2011

We are happy to announce the PHA Scholarship Program will award scholarship grants to students working towards either an undergraduate or graduate degree.  Please download the appropriate form, complete it, print it out and mail the application along with the supporting documentation no later than March 31, 2010.

Please use the following checklist to insure that your application and supporting documents are completed before applying – missing documents failure to complete and sign application will result in your application not being considered.

 

PHA Scholarship Application Checklist

To insure that your application is complete please refer to this checklist.  Please note failure to complete this application and/or submit the following items may cause your application to be considered incomplete and therefore ineligible for consideration for this year’s scholarship program.

Selection will be primarily made on the basis of financial need.  Additional evaluation will focus on academic standing (grade point average, SAT Scores), leadership potential and pride of your Polish heritage.  Application must be completed and postmarked by March 31, 2010


o Application form printed and filled out completely from website postmarked by March 31, 2010.

o An essay (approximately 250 words) should express the applicant’s feelings why you should receive a scholarship grant and the importance and meaning of your Polish Heritage.  This word document must be submitted as an email attachment to:  phascholarships@yahoo.com  on or before March 31, 2010

o One letter of reference from a teacher, professor, guidance counselor or professional contact.

o Transcript of grades in institution’s officially sealed envelope.

o Copy of applicants and/or their family’s 2009 Federal tax return.  [Do Not send originals!  Please delete Social Security Numbers; copies will be shredded unless you include a self-addressed stamped envelope.]


IMPORTANT:  Finalists attendance are required on the following two dates:
Finalist Interviews – Saturday, April 17, 2010
Scholarship Recipient Awards – Sunday, May 16, 2010
